Tension in Maxfield Avenue area after cops kill 16-y-o

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A section of Maxfield Avenue in St Andrew is currently blocked as residents protest the police killing of a 16-year-old boy in the area.

The boy, Ronaldo Smith also known as Raheem, was shot dead earlier this afternoon on Raphael Street, which is off Maxfield Avenue.

Details surrounding the killing are sketchy at this time.

However, the security forces are currently in the area trying to contain the situation. The Fire Department has also been called in to clear the blockage.
