DR LOVE AGAIN

Dr. Love receiving death threats from reggae artist
Several weeks after filing a Police complaint and taking legal action against Jamaican entertainer and
former Digicel Raising Star, Mitzie Campbell aka Brown Suga, New Jersey-based reggae artist Chris
“Dr. Love” Crooks said he has been receiving several death threats and verbal harassments.
According to Dr. Love he and Brown Suga had several business transactions over a ten-month period,
which include the loaning of some US$4,000 to cover the staging of her birthday party, as well as
medical and traveling expenses. “After four months and several efforts to settle the outstanding loans,
Miss Campbell failed to repay me and resort to anti-social behavior and more recently death threats,”
Dr Love claimed.
“I was only trying to help a fellow entertainer who I met at a stage show in New Jersey. We developed
a very close friendship and professional partnership during the period. She was experiencing financial
difficulties in Jamaica and was seeking my help. I trusted her and decided to assist in her career and
personal development,” Dr. Love admitted.
The three-time New Jersey reggae award winner insisted, “despite our friendship it was always clear
that my financial contributions were loans and will be repaid as soon as her career and bookings picked
up.” However, she got numerous bookings, but failed to repay the loans. The matter was brought to
the attention of her management team in Jamaica. “We came to an agreement to repay me a discounted
amount over a three-day period, but, to-date, I am still waiting payment,” he added.
Dr. Love also claimed that during the last fourteen days he and Miss Campbell were in discussion to
settle the outstanding payments and was therefore very surprised to be getting death threats from her
agents and associates who “clearly identified themselves as persons instructed to intimidate and harass
me as I seek to collect my hard earn money.”
The death threats were reported to the New Orange Police Department and his lawyers have been
instructed to take necessary legal actions for his protections and to recover the loans.
Dr. Love said that he had no intension of disrupting Brown Suga’s career, but was trying to secure his
personal resources.
