Let your wife be the helper God called her to be.
Your wife is a helper, not a slave or a nobody to be relegated to the background in marriage. And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him Genesis 2:18. There must be something good or gifted about the woman God has placed in your life or the one YOU choosed by yourself either by mistake, love or lust. But the most important thing NOW is that she is your WIFE till death do you part.
Because you ask your wife to assist you in any form, or she chooses to support you financial, morally or otherwise in whatever form does not make you a lesser man. What is the reason for this wrongful act?(Not letting your wife help/support) Ego, Anger, trying very hard to stand by your” words”probably you have boasted / or sworn to rather die than seek assistance from your own wife. And maybe there were one or two witnesses who keep reminding you of your word and as a man of “INTEGRITY ” you would rather die than change your mind. There must be something good about that wife of yours. Why don’t you throw your pride away ,be reasonable, forgiving and invest in the strength of that woman .Some women are really very wise, bold, talented, helpful, reasonable, submissive ,forgiven and lots more. Barak was not ashamed to say this to Deborah.Barak said to her, “If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.”9 “Certainly I will go with you,” said Deborah. “But because of the course you are taking, the honor will not be yours, for the Lord will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.” So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh. 10 There Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali, and ten thousand men went up under his command. Deborah also went up with him.Judges 4:8-10
Another woman Jael did something spectacular. But Jael, Heber’s wife, picked up a tent peg and a hammer and went quietly to him while he lay fast asleep, exhausted. She drove the peg through his temple into the ground, and he died.22 Just then Barak came by in pursuit of Sisera, and Jael went out to meet him. “Come,” she said, “I will show you the man you’re looking for.” So he went in with her, and there lay Sisera with the tent peg through his temple—dead.Judges 4:21:22. A whole city listened to a woman and that same city was saved. That is not the case. A man named Sheba son of Bikri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Hand over this one man, and I’ll withdraw from the city.”The woman said to Joab, “His head will be thrown to you from the wall.”22 Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bikri and threw it to Joab. So he sounded the trumpet, and his men dispersed from the city, each returning to his home. And Joab went back to the king in Jerusalem.
Some men would say their women are controlling .Any woman would take charge when you fail to take charge. Abigail took charge and saved her household. While David was in the wilderness, he heard that Nabal was shearing sheep. So he sent ten young men and said to them, “Go up to Nabal at Carmel and greet him in my name. Say to him: ‘Long life to you! Good health to you and your household! And good health to all that is yours! Let’s not forget that David was the KING . He had everything he was asking from Nabal he even asked with respect and Courtesy but Nabal responded with insults. So ,Abigail acted quickly. She took two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five dressed sheep, five seahs[b] of roasted grain, a hundred cakes of raisinsand two hundred cakes of pressed figs, and loaded them on donkeys. 19 Then she told her servants, “Go on ahead; I’ll follow you.” But she did not tell her husband Nabal.1 Samuel 25:18-19. She saved her household and won the admiration of the king. If you don’t acknowledge and appreciate the strength, wisdom, gifts and potentials in your wife others will see and use it. Finally, At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him. But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it.[c] “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,” she said. So the Lord let him alone. (At that time she said “bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.) Exodus 4:24-25. Blessings- Grace and mercy.
