A global youth study on tobacco has found that there is continued use of tobacco in schools in Guyana among students between the ages of 13 and 15.
The report was handed over to the Guyanese Ministry of Public Health on Thursday.
Students attending 25 public schools were questioned during the 2015 survey conducted by the Pan American Health Organisation/ World Health Organisation.
The study revealed that one in every three students had used tobacco at some point while one in every six students used tobacco products.
One in every nine students smoked tobacco products, while 45.3 per cent of students, accounting for almost half of the students surveyed, had smoked a cigarette before the age of 12.
