UNDERSTANDING THE HAND OF GOD
“And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah and he girded up his lions and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.” 1 Kings 18:46
The hand of God is very unique; it makes what is humanly impossible very possible. A clear example is the text above; if you read the full story, you will see that what happened was that King Ahab rode in his chariot and went ahead of Prophet Elijah. But when the hand of God came upon Elijah, he overtook Ahab’s chariot. Naturally speaking, that is completely impossible. But remember, what is impossible with man is possible with God. I declare that you will overtake every competitor that has gone ahead of you. The hand of the Lord will rest upon you; He will compress time for you and grant you speed.
Also, in the book of Ezekiel. 37:1, we are told that the hand of God was upon Prophet Ezekiel. And as a result of the hand of God upon his life in the spirit, he was able to call back dry bones to life. I command every dry situation in your life to receive life in Jesus name. I speak to every dead thing in your life to come alive in Jesus name.
These two accounts show that the hand of the Lord is God’s ability. It is God’s presence; it is God standing with you in order to accomplish the impossible. The scripture tells us that the Lord “will never leave thee nor forsake thee” (Heb. 13:5) “and Lo I am with you always, even to the end of the world” (Matt. 28:20). This means that His hand rests upon us in all we do. The hand of the Lord and His presence speak for us. God assured Moses of His presence when He sent him to confront Pharaoh. At times, when the hand of the Lord comes, it deals with your enemy. It deals with your circumstances.
Like never before, we need the hand of God upon us in all that we do. In all our endeavours, in all assignments, in every effort we are involved in, we need the hand of God. “For by strength shall no man prevail” (I Sam. 2:9 KJV). Beloved, you need His assistance. You need Him to fight for you. It is the hand of the Lord that gives you the edge as believers. Therefore you must be diligent to ensure that the hand of God rests and stays upon your life.
