SET THE EXAMPLE
Daily Prayer Times: 5:30am, 12noon, 6:00pm, 9:00pm
“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love. Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:1-3)
Paul was in prison for preaching the gospel of Christ, so he spoke of himself as a prisoner of the Lord. He appealed for us Christians to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith we are called. Christians are encouraged to go about their lives (walk) in a manner that is appropriate of their calling as believers. God has called Christians to live holy lives that reflect Christ to a lost world.
Our live should be an exemplary life. These qualities describe authentic Christian character which contributes to the unity of church. They are lowliness (humility), the result of having an honest appraisal of oneself and of God. Long suffering (patience) and fore bearing one another in love (putting up with faults in others because of our love for them) bring unity in the church. The underlying cause of church disunity is members who are not submissive to the Holy Spirit. Living under the Spirit’s guidance enables him to produce in believers the qualities that bring them into a fellowship of peace and unity.
To keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace requires diligent effort on the part of Christians. Every member of a church is either helping build unity as a peacemaker or contributing to division as a peace-breaker. What do you need to let God change in your heart to enable you to contribute to unity in your church? Are you part of those who sabotage the work of your General Overseer?. Are you pulling the church down with your gossip or is your input bringing increase to the kingdom of God? Have a rethink of your life.
PRAYER
Oh God, help me to be a submissive servant to the Holy Spirit.
Every strong man or woman that is bringing confusion in the body of Christ, God scatter their plans, in Jesus name.
Oh God, I would be a peace maker, a builder and supporter of the church and not a scatter, in Jesus name.
Liberation Thought: I shall be submissive to the Holy Spirit.
