Three foreigners charged with possession of criminal property

The three foreigners who were arrested at Norman Manley International Airport on Sunday for possession of tens of thousands of US dollars and other foreign currencies have been charged under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Claudia Clijdesale, 30, and Ingrid Asaitie, 31, who are from Suriname and 30 year-old Delroy Sanduliet from French Guiana, were charged on Thursday.

The charges are possession of criminal property, concealing criminal property, attempting to leave Jamaica with criminal property, facilitating the retention of criminal property and conspiracy.

They are scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on August 2.

Reports from the Narcotics Police are that about 2:45 Sunday afternoon, the three were about to board a flight to Guyana when they were accosted.

They were searched by detectives and allegedly found to have US$93,000, Sr$325 (Surinamese dollars), £150 and J$50 Jamaican concealed on their bodies.
