He abandoned me for other women, denied responsibility of my pregnancy —Wife
Tuntun Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, has adjourned a divorce suit brought before it by a man, Kazeem Daudu against his wife, Anifat Daudu.
Daudu, in his suit, alleged that his wife is troublesome, violent and adulterous. He, therefore, prayed the court to separate them.
Anifat acceded to divorce, but prayed the court to grant her custody of their four children.
“My wife is a careless and uncaring human being. She constantly shirks her responsibilities as wife and mother despite my display of displeasure at these.
“She goes out at will and will leave our children at the mercy of neighbours. She starves these children on a regular basis because she always fails to prepare their food before leaving home. They, therefore, survive on whatever neighbours can offer them.

“She is also unfaithful to me. My ears are filled with her escapades with other men, although she keeps denying them. I caught her red-handed when she left her phone with me. One of her lovers who assumed he was chatting with her arranged a date with her at their meeting place and I did a follow up. She accused me of going through her phone when she realised her secret was out and fought me. Her mother, in her usual manner, also took sides with her.
“My lord, anytime she’s fighting me, she draws a knife or broken bottle at me and always threatens to split blood. She has packed her belongings out of my house twice after she fought me but our differences were ironed out. The last time my mum mediated in our differences when she came to pay us a visit in our new house, she beat the hell out of her.
“My lord, her troublesome nature is affecting my health; I’m tired of our marriage, please separate us, “Kazeem appealed to the court.
“This is not the first time he will drag me to court. I’ve been served a court summon twice. This time I’m ready for divorce.
“He falsely accused me of adultery but kept the truth from the court. He’s the one who always abandons me at home and goes after women. He will return home after spending a fortune on them and beat me if I complain.
“I took ill and went to the hospital for a test. I was told I was pregnant but he denied being responsible for it. Our relatives and friends counseled him on the issue but he has remained adamant till date, “she concluded.
After listening to the evidence, the court president, Chief Olasunkami Agbaje stated that more evidence would be needed.
Ruling, he adjourned the case till October 16, and ordered both parties to come to court with their children and parents.
