Seven Westmoreland men charged for involvement in criminal organisation
As the police intensify their clampdown on criminal gangs charges were laid yesterday against seven men who were held during last month’s massive raid in the communities of Kings Valley and Peggy Barry in Westmoreland.
The October 10 operation targeted criminals in the parish.
A news release from the police last night said CTOC detectives charged the men with breaches of the anti-gang legislation as well as the Firearm and Common Law Acts.
They are 20-year-old Romaro McKenniso otherwise called ‘Ratty’ or ‘Bud Pickney’, of Kings Valley; 29-year-old Derval Williams alias ‘Lukie’ or ‘Flex’, of Kings Valley; 25-year-old Christon Grant also known as ‘Bobby’ or ‘Echoy’, of Peggy Barry as well as 32-year-old Hopeton Sankey, otherwise called ‘Leadda’ or ‘Bigga’, of Kings Valley.
Some of the men have also been charged with murder and conspiracy to murder.
The others are 51-year-old Ricky Hall, otherwise called ‘Bad Wata’ of Peggy Barry; 31-year-old Carlington Godfrey alias ‘Tommy’, of Kings Valley as well as 21-year-old Lindell Powell, otherwise called ‘Lazarus’, of Kings Valley.
The men are scheduled to appear before the Home Circuit Court on Thursday.
