The saying that he who kills by the sword die by the sword became a reality for a member of a robbery gang in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, as he was shot dead by his colleague while they were sharing their loot of the day.
It was gathered that on 18th February 2019 a six-man robbery gang led by one Ogilivie who is still at large burgled a house and stole a generator plant which they sold.
Tribune Online further learnt that in the course of sharing the money, one of the robbers, Gielaemi Ben ‘m’ 19 yrs, protested that he was given the smaller amount and the principal suspect, Oginivie, shot him dead afterwards.
The shot robber reportedly slumped and died immediately, a development, which caused confusion for other colleagues, who had no choice than to abandoned him there and fled the scene.
According to CP Sholla David, the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, in course of the investigation, a team of policemen caught with one of the suspects, Isaac Organ, was later arrested in Yenagoa after a fierce shootout with the police.
“In the course of the investigation, operatives went to arrest one of the suspects, Isaac Ogan, who engaged the Police in a shoot-out. He was shot on the leg, and a locally made pistol was recovered from him.
“The other suspects Victor Meremunya ‘m’ 30 yrs, Pereowei Ibiagbe ‘m’ 23yrs, Tibolayefa Louis ‘m’ 23yrs, Gift Samuel age 22yrs have been arrested and detained, while the principal suspect Ogilivie is at large.”
In a related development, the police have arrested four suspected notorious cultist, Ozekizibe Wisdom, Lucky Okah, Tony Christopher and Precious Egbo allegedly terrorising Yenagoa metropolises.
Addressing newsmen after parading the suspects, CP Sholla said “policemen on stop and search operation at Akenfa lll, Yenagoa, accosted two boys namely; one Ozekizibe Wisdom ‘m’ 19 years and one Lucky Okah ‘m’ 19 years, both residents of Igbogene Community.
“They were searched and one locally made revolver pistol loaded with one round of ammunition was recovered from Ozekizibe Wisdom.
“On 26/03/2019 about 2:00 pm, base on a tip-off Policemen arrested a notorious criminal one Tony Christopher in a sports betting outlet at Agudama Epie.
“Upon a thorough search, a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge was recovered from him.
“Also on 20/03/2019 about 5:30 pm, police operatives on surveillance at Swali, Yenagoa, arrested a notorious cultist, Precious Egbo ‘m’ 17 years, in possession of one locally made pistol and one live Cartridge.
“The suspect a confessed member of a cult group has volunteered useful information and investigation is ongoing,” he added
