KINGSTON, Jamaica — Detectives assigned to St Andrew Central are probing the circumstances surrounding the attempted murder of a woman and the subsequent suicide of a man on McIntosh Drive, Kingston 3 this morning.
The dead man is known only as ‘Suddy’, a labourer of McIntosh Drive.
Reports from the Half Way Tree police are that ‘Suddy’ and his common-law wife had an altercation about 2:00 am when he used a stone to inflict wounds to her head.
The police were alerted and the woman was seen lying on in a pool of blood in an unconscious state. Further checks were made and ‘Suddy’s’ body was seen in his yard hanging by its neck by a piece of cord which was tied to a tree.
Police say the woman was admitted to hospital in serious condition.
This attempted murder/suicide follows another case yesterday along Waltham Park Road in St Andrew involving two correctional officers.
It is reported that 42 year old Roulene Clarke Cowan was shot dead by her husband, Patrick Cowan, who later killed himself. The couple’s 12-year-old daughter reportedly witnessed the incident. Clarke Cowan was believed to be a few weeks pregnant.
Some of these self hangings sounds suspicious.
