JAMAICAN MAN CHARGED WITH DOUBLE MURDER

NASSAU| One of two women found stabbed to death in a luxury high-rise condo in Miami, Florida on Tuesday night is said to be a Bahamian.

The Bahamian victim is 35-year-old, Sophie Strachan-Simpson, whose body was discovered at the Paraiso Bay condos on 650 NE 32nd Street in Miami, Florida, just east of Biscayne Boulevard around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Sophie Strachan-Simpson was a 2001 graduate of Aquinas College.

Miami police said they were asked to conduct a well-being check at the condo unit with Homeland Security investigators and upon entering the unit, they found that both women had been stabbed to death, authorities said.

Local 10 News in Miami, Florida, reported that Franklyn Williams, 46, was later taken into custody.

Local 10 News also reported that the two victims lived with Williams and he was reportedly the longtime boyfriend of Strachan-Simpson.

Williams appeared in court on Thursday in a bond hearing, of which he was later charged.

Records revealed that Williams is also facing charges in a separate case for alleged racketeering, money laundering, grand theft and the fraudulent use of identification.

Jamaican Man In Miami Charged With Double Murder


A Jamaican man has been charged in Miami, Florida with the murders of his girlfriend, Sophia Simpson, and another woman, Gabrella Griffith.

Forty-six-year-old, Franklyn Williams, was arrested in connection with the murders, according to an arrest report, on Tuesday.

He was charged with both their murders Thursday.

Orlando Rodriguez, a spokesman for the City of Miami Police Department, said the bodies of Simpson and Griffith were found in their condo around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

“On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at approximately 8:09 p.m., the Miami Police Homicide Unit received information from Homeland Security investigations that Franklyn Williams spontaneously confessed to stabbing and killing two females,” the report read.

It added, “…Mr. Williams, post Miranda [rights], stated that he lives with and has been victim one’s boyfriend for ten years and that victim two lives in the apartment with them. Mr. Williams stabbed victim one during an argument.

“During the stabbing, victim two came into the master bedroom and grabbed Mr. Williams from behind and he stabbed her in the neck. Mr. Williams recalls committing the murders on Thursday, May 2, 2019, just after midnight.”

The redacted report said a knife was found at the scene.

  1. Sigh..so sad, why the second victim never flee and call fi help or barricade herself in her room? So sad that she lost her life trying to defend her friend.
