A police constable accused of sexually assaulting a minor in the Lucea Police lock-up in Hanover, two weeks ago, has been charged following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
It is alleged that on June 17, the 15 year old girl was assaulted by the cop who was on duty at the holding area.
Superintendent Charmaine Shand, head of CISOCA, had reported that the girl was taken to the police station after she was remanded by a judge who ruled that she was in need of care and protection.
She said the teenager was awaiting transportation to a Place of Safety when she was assaulted.
