The police are reporting multiple gun seizures island wide this week.
The first seizure took place on Tuesday between the hours of 8:00 and 10:00 am, during an operation in the Grants Pen area where a 12-gauge shotgun was found hidden in the rafting of a roof at a premises.
However, lawmen said no one was arrested in relation to the find.
In another incident in an area known as Compound in Central Village, St Catherine, officers were reportedly on patrol when they heard explosions and saw a group of masked men running from the area.
A search was conducted and a magazine containing 23 9mm rounds of ammunition seized.
The gun seizures continued on Thursday about 1:00 pm, during a follow-up operation on Brown’s Lane in Central Village where an Intra-Tec 9mm submachine gun was found in bushes.
Again, police said no one was arrested in connection with this seizure.
Then in Harbour View, St Andrew, police arrested six persons in connection with the seizure of a Luger semi-automatic pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun, along with 11 9mm cartridges and 41 12-gauge cartridges after the weapons were found on the roof of a premises in the area.
Lawmen are encouraging citizens to help create safer communities by sharing information about illegal guns and ammunition by supporting the ‘Get the Guns Campaign’ by calling Crime Stop at 311, police 119 emergency number or contact the nearest police station if they can provide information that will lead to the recovery of weapons and ammunition/explosives.
