“The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:2
To some among us Christians, the spirit that holds them in bondage will even allow them into church but at God’s appointed time for liberation, it will infuse their minds with some distractions: some will fall asleep while some will begin to chew gum or whisper in gossip. Some will begin to select a particular minister they want to pray or lay hands on them, from those they do not want to come near them. Thus, they dictate to God which vessel He should use to honour and which to dishonour. At the very time of their miracle, some will let their focus of interest wander to the latest trendy fashion in clothes, make-up and other accessories, or the latest technology of hand held devices around them and all that, even while they are in His presence in church.
Many of those who are in bondage are often provoked in the spirit when the sermon begins and the word of God is proceeding powerfully from the pulpit. This category of Christians usually takes offence and condemns the minister for making them the target or object of his preaching “all the time”. As a result, they will not show up in church next Sunday. And that could be the day of their visitation. The forces that work against our refreshment can be likened to ‘Enemies behind the scene’. They give their victims all kinds of odd assignments to keep them busy, to steal away their liberation, and to keep them in bondage till death. David would not be distracted from absolute dedication and reverence to God. Hence he prayed: “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Liberation Thought: Watch and pray that you do not miss the day of your visitation from the Lord.
