FAMILY SAYS CLOSURE BECAUSE OF NEVERSON’S ARREST

Donna Davis’ family has waited 16 years to see her alleged killer captured, but for her mom, justice came just a few months too late.

Daisy Davis died on Feb. 18, at age 81, still hoping police would find Andre Neverson — who cops say killed his older sister, Patricia, then kidnapped and murdered Donna, his ex-girlfriend, in 2002.

“She left with the hope of seeing Andre caught,” Donna’s father, Clyde Davis, 90, said. “This is a gift from the NYPD. Silver or gold can’t replace this.”

Police and U.S. Marshals tracked Neverson to a home in Bridgeport Tuesday afternoon and hauled him back to the 71st Precinct in Brooklyn.

On July 8, 2002, Neverson, then 38, shot and killed his sister, 39-year-old Patricia Neverson, as the two argued over money in her Crown Heights home, police allege. The next day, he picked up Davis, 38, at Audrey Cohen College in Queens, ushered her into his minivan and shot her in the head, cops said. Her body was found in an East New York lot.

“For me, (the pain) will go on until I die,” Daisy Davis told the Daily News five years after the dreadful crime.

“The family gets together; we talk about her, the good things,” she said. “We just keep remembering her.”

Neverson immediately asked for a lawyer after his arrest and refused to answer any questions, a police source said.

He was busted for reckless driving a day earlier under a fake name, but he made bail before his fingerprints were linked to the murders, sources said.

On Tuesday, the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive task force and the Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force surrounded a house in Bridgeport, where he was staying with two gal pals.

“We approached the house. He was sitting on a wall. As we approached, he started leaning back and we almost lost view of his hands,” US Marshals Supervising Deputy Brian O’Neill said.

Fearing he was armed, they moved in quickly and grabbed him.

“I feel very happy to know Andre is caught,” Clyde Davis said. “So far he’s unable to harm anybody in the street again. This is it.”

Donna Davis’ cousin, Dale DeGale, said the arrest brought her closure.

She thanked two police officers in particular, Capt. Alan Larson, who took the missing person report as a lieutenant in Brooklyn, and retired Detective Peter Margraf, the lead investigator, for sticking with the family and the case over the years.

“For 16 years, he was able to enjoy life. She didn’t have the chance to. I’m glad he’s locked up,” she said.
