A St Catherine embalmer has found himself in trouble with the law after his cousin reportedly told the police that he was the one who had given him 18.1 pounds of ganja to take to Panama.

The 22-year-old accused, Ricardo Blake of Greater Portmore in St Catherine, who was recently arrested and charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act, was offered bail in the sum of $150,000 when he appeared in court on Monday.

The court heard that Blake’s cousin, Kavion James, was going through the Norman Manley International Airport on May 10 when he was stopped and checked and anomalies discovered.

James’s luggage was searched and 18.1 pounds of the narcotic substance was reportedly found.

When cautioned by the police, James reportedly said,“Is mi cousin weh name Ricardo gimme fi carry go gi a man and the man fi gimme $350,000.”.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps to export ganja, and conspiracy.

Blake’s lawyer denied the allegations, noting that his client is eager to have his day in court to prove his innocence.

He was granted bail by Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell on condition that he reports to the Greater Portmore Police Station twice daily, surrender his travel documents, and a stop order placed on him.

He is to return to court on June 6.
