The man, who became a social media pariah, after footage of him allegedly striking a toddler and force feeding her a bottle of baby milk became a viral video, has been granted bail of $150,000 by a Tunapuna magistrate.

Dexter Gobin was granted $150,000 bail after he appeared before magistrate Gillian David-Scotland charged with abusing a child on October 17 and 20.

His wife Yanique Taylor-Gobin, a Jamaican national, was denied bail since she has overstayed her time in the country and a detention order was taken out against her. They were arrested in San Fernando last week.

The couple is accused of allegedly beaten a child at their Rafferty Street, St Joseph, Maracas home earlier this month. The couple will reappear on November 16.

As part of his bail conditions, Gobin was ordered to report to the St Joseph Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and to remain 100 metres from the child.

Shortly after the matter ended Gobin, a diabetic, was taken by police to the Macoya Health Facility for medical treatment for his illness.

  1. He has no money to post bail so he will remain right there in prison , or the diabetes might kill him first. His family not willing to post bail because of the uproar this has caused. Good luck to them and the wife in the women’s prison.
They better be thankful they getting good free legal representation that re question protection in jail and special prison food.

Learn that when u abuse children you pay the price. The child protection act laws passed in May in Trinidad clearly supports accountability and punishment.
The government is cracking down and social services working hard months now. People tired of the deaths and abuse of children

  2. Unfortunately this is a case that will be seen as “not that bad” in Trinidad. They are used to more extreme abuse.

  3. @MET One thing about this case that Jamaica can learn from is don’t protect these bastards…dont victimize the victims all over again….justice so far has been swift and will no doubt end with a conviction.

I am curious to know though..will Yanique be charged in Jamaica after she arrives? Why wouldnt Trinidad charge her, sentence her and then send her packing??? Will she get away that easy?

This pig weighs like 529 pounds…imagine how dem lick dey hot..SMDH
