JAMAICAN MOM KILLED AND PUT IN CLOSET BY HER SON

A Brooklyn man is accused of stabbing his mother to death and then burning her and stuffing her corpse in a closet.

Neighbors say the devoted mom saw it coming.

Jason Reeves was arraigned in Brooklyn Supreme Court Friday, and ordered held without bail in the murder of Paulette Reeves, 67. Cops found her body after she didn’t show up at work for several days and they were asked to make a wellness check.

Colleagues became worried when she missed several days from her lunch aide job at a Crown Heights middle school earlier in the week.

When cops checked Paulette’s Park Place apartment, they discovered her stabbed, bloody body upside down in a closet. Her son, Jason, 32, had told them his mother was away in Florida, but the unmistakable stench of a decomposing body left them with no doubt that he was lying.

Reeves, who shared the fourth-floor Albany Houses apartment with his mother, was arrested and charged with murder after questioning at the 77th Precinct.

Officials said the victim had been stabbed in the chest, face and eyes, and burn marks were on the body.

Cops said there was charring on the bathroom ceiling and tub, and blood smears in the tub and elsewhere in the apartment. They said Reeves‘ clothing was also stained with blood.

A neighbor said the mother had feared for her safety. “I don’t know what to do anymore,” the neighbor quoted the mother as saying. “I think that boy’s going to kill me.”

Residents said the victim was originally from Jamaica, and described her as a devout churchgoer and devoted mother. One neighbor, Asia Djones, 59, said the woman’s son struggled with drugs. Others said he suffered from mental illness.

“The only thing she ever asked me [about him] is if I could help find the people that were selling him drugs because she didn’t want him doing them,” Djones said.“She just threw it out there to whoever was in the vestibule, ‘Please don’t sell my son drugs.’ ”

Djones said she could not understand how anyone could become so desperate.

“I could never kill my mother. That’s the queen,” Djones said. “Without her, you don’t exist.”

“She tried to help him. She sent him back home to Jamaica to get him help,” Djones said. “He was in a car accident and he had a stroke. He came back crazy..”

Another neighbor, Jacqueline Neepawe, called the mother “a beautiful person.” But she said the son was a menace in the building.

“He was always around here starting stuff with people,” Neepawe said. “He was a real mental case. He would follow people around, trying to touch them, their kids. He would grab peoples’ pocketbooks, their phones, and then run to his mom’s house.”

Maggie Bonefil, 50, who lives in a nearby apartment, said she smelled something strange in the building on Sunday.

“I never smelled anything like that,” she said.
