KARTEL APPEAL HEARING SET FOR NEXT THURSDAY

A case management hearing is set for Thursday in the appeal filed by convicted entertainer Vybz Kartel.

It is expected to be the final case management conference before July 9 when Kartel, real name Adidja Palmer, fellow entertainer, Shawn Storm, real name Shawn Campbell, as well as their co-convicts, Kahira Jones and Andre St John begin a legal challenge to their murder convictions before the Appeal Court.

The appeal is expected to last for three weeks.

Tom Tavares-Finson, one of the attorneys representing Kartel, says Thursday’s case management conference is to ensure that everything is in order to allow the appeal to commence.

However, Tavares-Finson says everything is in place as all the attorneys for the four men, along with prosecutors, have filed their skeletal arguments with the Court of Appeal.

Kartel, Shawn Storm, Jones and St John were found guilty of murder in March 2014 for killing Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in August 2011.
