Detectives are working to identify two men seen exiting a car after a man was fatally shot Friday in Cleveland’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood, police said.
Leroy Williams Martin, 48, of Orlando, Florida was found with a gunshot wound to the head outside a home on East 149th Street near Milverton Road, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office said. He died after an ambulance took him to University Hospitals.
Cleveland police officers arrived just after 5:30 p.m. and found Martin shot in the driver’s seat of a Pontiac G6, police said. They gave him first aid until an ambulance arrived.
Witnesses said several men were inside the car when an altercation broke out and shots were fired, police said.
Two men got out of the car and got into a blue SUV, which sped away, police said.
A resident who answered the door at the home Saturday said she did not know the man who was shot, and was not home when the shooting occurred. She said it happened while the car was stopped in the driveway outside the home.
Anyone with information about the shooting is being asked to contact Cleveland homicide detectives at 216-623-5464.
