The number of Jamaicans arrested on warrants for extradition to the US in connection with the lottery scam has increased to 13.
Twenty-four year-old Mario Hines, who was among 14 people listed as wanted by the US, was captured in Rhyne Park, St. James on Tuesday. He is wanted for wire fraud and money laundering.
Mr. Hines is scheduled to appear in the Westmoreland Parish Court today.
Some of the other Jamaicans who are in custody in the US have pleaded guilty in the lottery scam which authorities say defrauded at least 90 Americans out of more than $5.7 million. The case is being prosecuted in federal court in North Dakota.
The investigation dating to 2011 resulted in charges against 27 people.
