The policeman who was attacked and chopped in the face by a man of unsound mind in Christiana, Manchester, Tuesday morning, remains in hospital in serious condition.
The corporal, who is attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Department, was riding his service motorbike along main street, Christiana, when he was attacked by the man of unsound mind.
The man was chasing the wounded cop when a licensed firearm holder came to his assistance and opened fire on the attacker.
The corporal underwent emergency surgery Tuesday morning to stabilise the wound.
He is said to be in stable condition.
Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, head of the Area Three Police headquarters, told RJR News that the wounded policeman is to undergo additional procedures in Kingston.
The suspect and an 18 year old bystander, who were both shot in the incident, have been admitted to hospital for treatment.
