Police have confirmed the death of the policeman who allegedly shot a woman dead in St Andrew before driving to his St Mary home and turning the gun on himself.

Dead is Constable Rajon Stephens, who was attached to the Hunts Bay Police Station.

It was reported by a police source that the woman’s body was found wrapped in a sheet before daylight Sunday.

OBSERVER ONLINE has learnt that the two were intimate partners.

Orica Hibbert, aunt of the deceased female – 23-year-old schoolteacher Kaydeen Hunter – described her as being jovial, down to earth and an in depth individual.

“She was like a puppet… everything she see, she skin off her teeth. She was jovial. She do her own thing and she was down to earth,” Hibbert said.

Hibbert told OBSERVER ONLINE that the relationship between Stephens and Hunter never seemed abusive, but was a happy one.

“Dem always jovial. Mi nuh know if dem did have dem little thing. I don’t know why [he would kill her]. I can’t tell [what was] the problem,” she said.

Hibbert also expressed that the family is having a hard time coming to grips with the death of Hunter.

Members of the family have been fainting and others have been taken to the hospital as they mourn the death of their relative.
