The would-be fourth victim was a 29-year-old pregnant woman who died yesterday at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). She was said to be expecting twins.
Up to Friday afternoon, Acting Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Winston De La Haye, said there were 10 confirmed cases of the virus in the island thus far, with two fatalities.
However other reports from the UHWI outline that there have been 35 persons who have contracted the virus – 28 adults and seven children.
Suzanna Roye, 50, a Mandeville-based doctor, was the first Jamaican to have died of the virus. One week later, a 49-year-old woman died at the UHWI, followed by an 84-year-old woman days after.
