A prison escapee wanted for the murder of a former policeman was captured on Saturday after eluding the police for more than a year.
Charles Hamilton otherwise called ‘Tuggy Tuggy’ of addresses in St Mary and St Andrew was arrested at the intersection of Dunrobin Avenue and Constant Spring Road in Kingston, the police said.
Hamilton is the main suspect in the murder of ex-detective sergeant Trevor Williams in Stony Hill, St Andrew last December.
He was also a person of interest in several gun related offences including murder, shooting and robberies in St Mary and St Andrew.
The police said he had previously been convicted of shooting with intent and was awaiting sentencing when absconded from the lock up at the Islington Police Station in St Mary on August 11, 2017.
He was however sentenced to 16 years imprisonment in absentia.
