Muslim Sheikh Abdullah el Faisal has been arrested by members of the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force on an extradition warrant.
The Ministry of National Security says el Faisal was arrested in Kingston and taken to his home in St Catherine where a search warrant was executed.
It also said he will be taken to court for a hearing at a later date.
The ministry has promised that further information will be made available as soon as possible.
