SOLIDER DIES AFTER TRYING TO THWART ROBBERY

The Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and the military are probing the murder of a Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier.

Corporal Linton Lynch died on Thursday from bullet wounds he sustained during a robbery on Monday.

The soldier was visiting relatives in the Waltham Park Road area when they were held up and robbed by gunmen.

The men opened fire on the group, hitting Corporal Lynch and one of his relatives.

The solider, who was shot in his abdomen, died at the Kingston Public Hospital.

His relative was treated and released.
