A man who pleaded guilty to robbery last week said he was led to commit the crime as a result of his dire situation.

Ricardo Pike, 27, was said to have robbed the complainant of an 18-karat gold chain and a gold ring valued at $100,000 on September 10.

The court heard that Pike saw the complainant walking along the road and grabbed the chain from his neck, which had the ring attached, and ran off.

“Any reason you should not go to prison for it Mr Pike?” Pusey questioned.

“Your honour, it won’t happen again. I am very sorry,” Pike articulated. “Only thing me really want, your honour, is a work.”

But Pusey was not moved, a fingerprint order was requested and he is expected to return to court in October.
