A man was convicted last week for trespassing in a restricted area at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.
The court heard that at approximately 2:15 am, the accused was found in a section of the Mona School of Business which is restricted to lecturers and students.
Claiming he did not know it was a restricted area, the man pleaded guilty to the charge.
Having no business with the university, as he was neither a student nor worker at the institution, Parish Judge Judith Pusey asked his reason for being there.
When asked who he played the instrument with, the man responded: “A me one play miss, me did a practise.”
He was instructed to pay a fine of $10,000 or serve six months in prison.
