A SPECIAL reserve police constable charged with the rape of a teenaged girl re-appeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Eighth Court yesterday. The matter was adjourned to May 11.
SRP Atiba Thomas, 29, of Diego Martin, first appeared in court last month following his arrest by officers of the Police Service’s Professional Standards Bureau.
Thomas is charged with 11 counts of grievous sexual assault and 11 counts of having sexual intercourse with a minor.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between 2012 and July 2014.
The policeman, who was required to surrender his passport, remains on bail in the sum of $350,000.
