VENDOR KILLED ON CHRISTMAS EVE IN MANDEVILLE

Two men were taken into police custody after a vendor was shot dead by gunmen in the Mandeville Market during the busy Christmas Eve shopping this afternoon.

Police reports are that three gunmen entered the market about 3:50 pm and pounced upon the vendor, firing multiple shots that sent other vendors and shoppers scampering for cover.

The quick response of the police resulted in two of the three gunmen being apprehended and taken into custody. The third man escaped.

The deceased vendor has not been identified.

The police cordoned off the area where the incident took place as they conducted their investigation.

However, Head of the Manchester Police Division Superintendent Wayne Cameron, in speaking with OBSERVER ONLINE earlier, assured that the area would be reopened in time for members of the public to continue their activities during the annual Christmas Eve Grand Market.
