Teen suspected of shooting at police turns up at hospital
An 18-year-old male who turned up at a hospital in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, with gunshot wounds is now under police guard, as they believe he was among a group men who engaged the police in a shoot-out early yesterday morning.
According to Divisional Commander for the Westmoreland police, Superintendent Gary McKenzie, the teen arrived at the hospital shortly after one of their own, Constable Junior Stephenson was admitted with gunshot wounds.
THE STAR understands that at about 2 a.m. yesterday, the police responded to reports of shots being fired in Maylars Avenue in Savanna-la-Mar.
When they arrived, they were met with gunfire. The police reciprocated, and a constable was shot and injured. He is said to be in stable condition.
