Man held in relation to counterfeit goods, charged

A man who was held during Monday’s raid by the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) at a store in Central Plaza, St. Andrew has been charged.

A statement from the police Tuesday afternoon said 44 year-old Owen Jackson of Sullivan Avenue, St. Andrew has been charged with Unlawful Use of Trademark.

He was held as C-TOC continued to clamp down on the sale and distribution of counterfeit goods.

Fake goods valued at more than $950,000 were seized at the store, Mannequin Pieces.

About 1:30 p.m., a search was carried out at the store and 192 pairs of counterfeit sneakers, marked with the names and logos of popular brands were found.

Mr. Jackson has been offered bail with surety in the sum of $300,000.

He is to appear in the St. Andrew Parish Court on August 13.
