WOLLERY LAWYER SEH HIM CLIENT HAVE INJURIES

Peter Champagnie, the attorney representing Andrew Woolery, the licensed firearm holder who shot and injured a security guard contracted to the Braemar Estate apartment complex in St Andrew last week, has revealed that his client sustained internal and other injuries in the aftermath of the shooting.

Video footage circulating on social media since last week showed that after the shooting incident, some members of a KingAlarm response team restrained and disarmed Woolery. As a result, Champagnie has warned of possible legal action.

“It is early days yet, but what is for sure is that KingAlarm and its agents will have to give account in the criminal or civil court; not only KingAlarm, but also persons within the strata corporation at the complex, and the complex security guard,” Champagnie told The Gleaner yesterday.

He also sought to dispel rumours that the shooting incident stemmed from Woolery’s non-payment of maintenance fees, and warned those spreading false information on his client on social media that legal action would be taken.

“[My client] has instructed me to take action against persons spreading rumours that the situation promulgated from

a case where he owed maintenance. Those promulga-ting that lie must take heed, because there is a defamation suit coming. At the time of the incident, he was not in arrears at all,” Champagnie said.

The Firearm Licensing Authority told The Gleaner on Monday that they were yet to interview the licensed firearm holder. However, Champagnie said that his client would meet with FLA Director of Compliance and Enforcement Cleveland Crooks in a few days.
