My wife is a debtor and a whore, man tells court
husbandA man, Mudasiru Saidi has prayed Oja Oba/Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, to terminate his 12-year-old union to his wife, Mudasiru Atinuke.
Mudasiru had sued for divorce on the accounts of irresponsibility and waywardness by his wife. He added that she also lacked credibility.
The plaintiff further appealed to the court if his prayer was answered, to grant him custody of their four children and restrain her from harassing him at his home or workplace.
“My lord, all I pray the court today is to please grant me my prayer for divorce from my wife because she has soiled my name enough.
“She placed no value on our marriage since we got married and behaved as she pleased. She hardly cooked for the home while she indulged our children in buying food from food vendor which apart from being expensive, was not satisfying.
“She never cared about my welfare and had no regard for me. In fact, at a time she started rubbing shoulders with me in the home and kept humiliating me before our children and neighbours.
“She had no friend in the compound we were living in and the neighbourhood because she was always at loggerheads with everyone.
“She was also in the habit of buying things on credit with my name and never paying back. On many occasions, I had been accosted by her creditors and made to pay for items she never informed me before buying on credit which I found embarrassing.
“She extended this habit to microfinance banks where she borrowed money and defaulted in paying back. I have often been harassed by these institutions and threatened with an arrest by the police, “he stated.
“My lord, she took to prostitution and started hopping from one bed to another. My ears became full of her escapades while I have enough evidence to back my claim. She actually started flaunting the calibre of her lovers before me thus humiliating me.
“We fought always because of her wayward nature and she finally packed out of my house two years ago which was much of a relief to me, “he added.
“My lord, I want this court to officially separate us so that I can move on with my life.
“I also pray for the custody of our children who are presently with her because she has no time for them and I don’t want them to take after her, “he concluded.
Atinuke failed to show up in court after being served a court summon once and court hearing thrice.
Giving his judgment after listening to the plaintiff, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade, dissolved their union on the premise that the plaintiff no longer loved his wife.
According to him, the defendant obviously showed she was no more interested in their marriage and was not ready to save it since she refused to turn up in court after receiving the summons.
He ordered the children to remain with the defendant till they are older while he ordered the plaintiff to give the defendant N10, 000 monthly through the court as their children’s feeding allowance and be responsible for their education and health care.
Poor hubby.
