She Held A Knife, Threatened To Cut Off My Manhood —Man
A 40-year-old man, Faromiki Temitope, has asked an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court in Ekiti State to dissolve his18-year-old marriage to his wife, Idowu.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Temitope is seeking for dissolution of the marriage on grounds of threats to life, lack of rest of mind and disrespect for his family by his wife.
The petitioner told the court that they were in love with each other when they got married.
“I sponsored my wife’s education so that she could be educated. I also established her in a lucrative business.
“But despite all I have been doing for her, she still foment trouble, “the father of two told the court.
The petitioner said that his wife does not want his progress.
“She accused me of dating my female customers and would pick my phone, call and rain curses on them.
“She came to my room in the night alleging that I was dating other women. She was holding a knife and threatened to kill me by cutting off my manhood, “he said.
Temitope said Idowu does not also have respect for his family members.
“She always foments trouble with members of my family, “he said.
The petitioner urged the court to dissolve their union and award him custody of their two children, a boy and girl, aged eight and four respectively.

But the respondent, Idowu, denied the allegations levied against her.
“I am not a trouble maker neither do I foment trouble with my husband or his family members.
“My mother-in-law and my husband’s other family members don’t like me.
“My husband’s family alleged that I was behind my husband’s predicament. They said I do not want his progress, “she said.
The respondent said that her husband was engaged in extra marital affairs.
“There was a time he brought a woman to our home and she slept in our bedroom.
“My husband lied to his parents that I wanted to stab him with knife in the night, which was not true,’’ she said.
The respondent said that it was her husband’s family that told him to file for divorce.
She urged the court to award custody of their children to her due to their age.
The court president, Mr Kayode Orejimi, adjourned the case till March 13, for judgment.
