The Centre for the Investigation of S*xual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA, has received 140 reports of s*xual abuse since the start of the year.
The cases were reported to CISOCA between January and April.
Delroy Chuck, Chairman of Parliament’s Joint Select Committee reviewing the S*xual Offences Act, told the meeting on Tuesday morning that the 140 cases were higher than the figure reported for the previous two years.
There has been one conviction so far this year.
Additionally, more than 100 cases have been carried over from 2015.
