Two people are now in police custody for questioning in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Camella Ledgister, also called Princess, who was discovered with her throat slashed here at her home Thursday evening.

The grade nine Wiliamsfield All-Age student was discovered by her father shortly after 6:30 pm with her head bashed in and her throat cut.

Detectives from the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station who are investigating have established no clear motive for the killing.

According to head of the Criminal Investigation Branch, ACP Ealan Powell, Westmoreland sleuths probing the grotesque murder are banking on the results of a post-mortem to determine if the grade nine Williamsfield All-Age student was pregnant.

“The post-mortem is set for tomorrow (today). After that we will know if she was pregnant, to further our investigation in the matter,” ACP Powell told the Jamaica Observer.

Reports are that about 6:45 pm the student was found inside her ransacked house by her father who only left her at the home about an hour earlier to run an errand.

The police were summoned and the body removed to the morgue.

In January this year, another teenager’s body, Santoya Campbell was found in garbage bags under a bridge, near a river close to the Frome Technical High School where she was a grade eight student.

Subsequent post-mortem results, which showed that the 14-year-old Campbell was pregnant, also said that she was strangled.

Consequently, fashion designer and photo studio operator 37-year-old Cornelius Robinson, who pleaded guilty to the murder, was sentenced to life when he appeared in the Westmoreland Circuit Court.

In the meantime, head of the Westmoreland Police Division Superintendent Beau Rigabie confirmed yesterday that two individuals have been taken into custody for questioning in connection with Camella’s murder.

  1. I don’t get why such little information is available. We already established that 2 were held since the initial reporting. The reporter needs to ascertain their gender, age, relation to the victim and what prompted the arrests since they keep screaming no motive.
At 15 many kids are sexually active and grown men in Jamaica are no respecter of age. Only until communities come together in denouncing this violation of the young, will these kids be safe.
