A 25 year-old man is in police custody in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 16 year-old girl on Tuesday in Top Hill, St. Elizabeth.
The deceased has been identified as Vernadine Anderson of Corn Piece in Hayes, Clarendon.
Reports are that about 9:00 p.m., Vernadine was at a friend’s house when she went outside and was heard screaming for help.
The friend went to her assistance and saw Vernadine lying on the ground while a man stood beside her with a knife in his hand.
It is reported that the man attacked the friend, who ran and locked herself in the house and called for help.
Vernadine was pronounced dead at hospital.
