71YO MAN HELD WITH COCAINE AT NORMAN MANLEY

A 71 year old Jamaican man who resides in Canada was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport yesterday for allegedly trying to leave the island with cocaine concealed in a package labelled Lasco Lasoy Soy Beverage.

The Narcotics Police report that the cocaine weighed 1.4 pounds with an estimated street value of $768,000.

Investigators say the man is to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney and will be charged with possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export cocaine.

It’s alleged that the package labelled Lasco Lasoy Soy Beverage was found during a search of the man’s luggage after he checked in at the airport to board a flight to Canada.

He is booked to appear in court on Tuesday.
