A Tsholotsho man was arrested for allegedly stuffing red hot pepper into his wife’s private parts after accusing her of cheating on him with a neighbour.
Mkhululi Mhlanga (32) of Mlagisa Village was allegedly told by a friend at a beer drink that his wife was having an extra-marital affair.
Mhlanga allegedly rushed home in a rage and assaulted his wife, leaving her bedridden due to injury.
A week after the assault, Mhlanga who was still fuming over the issue, went to his wife who still could not walk, with a handful of particularly hot pepper.
He allegedly forced her to open her legs and stuffed the pepper into her private parts.
Mhlanga’s wife reportedly had an adverse reaction which left her privates swollen and inflamed.
She informed a neighbour who had come to visit her and the neighbour reported the issue to the police leading to Mhlanga’s arrest.
Mhlanga appeared yesterday before Tsholotsho resident magistrate Abednico Ndebele and was slapped with a four year jail term.
Six months were suspended for three years on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within the period
He was charged with two counts of physical abuse and had pleaded not guilty.
However, Mhlanga was convicted due to overwhelming evidence as a doctor’s report that was produced in court confirmed chilli was found in his wife’s private parts.
The magistrate said Mhlanga deserved a custodial sentence because he had committed the cruellest most barbaric case of domestic violence he had ever dealt with, in years of being in the courts.
