Councillor for the August Town divison Venesha Phillips recently took to social media site Facebook, accusing a man of allegedly scamming over J$250,000 from her.

Phillips posted the man’s name along with several photographs of him to the website, in an effort to locate him in order to serve a summons.

According to her Facebook posts, the man had been evading her for more than 11 months, which resulted in a cancellation of a back-to-school project in her division last year.

She had also asked other Facebook users to circulate the image.

Phillips took to Facebook again, reporting that subsequent to her previous posts, an unnamed law firm contacted her on behalf of the man, stating that they were in possession of a cheque for her.

After being paid in full, she asked for the circulated photographs and corresponding posts of the man to be removed, because she had promised that once she found him and got what she was due, she would have removed the posts made.

The councillor for the August Town Division also thanked Facebook users and other social media users, and spoke to how powerful a tool social media can be.
