Two women who are allegedly having extra-marital affairs demanded spousal maintenance yesterday at the Bulawayo maintenance court.
Teresa Chaipa claimed $120 spousal maintenance from her estranged husband Lovemore Ganda.
According to court records Ganda is paying $120 child support for their five-year-old child.
Chaipa told the court that she was entitled to be maintained as she is legally married to Ganda.
Ganda said his wife was cheating on him and her boyfriend should take care of her.
“I’ve no problem with supporting my child but I’ll not support a woman who frolics with her boyfriend in the presence of my son,” he said.
He told Magistrate Sithembiso Ncube that their divorce was being processed at the High Court.
“I caught her with another man and gave her time to stop the relationship but she continued so why should I take care of her? I can prove my wife’s infidelity to the court,” he said.
Chaipa in her defence told the court that her husband was also cheating and therefore had no right to be pointing fingers at her.
Magistrate Ncube told Ganda to bring his pay slip pending her ruling.
In another court Sifundo Siwetshe was claiming $320 in spousal and child maintenance from her husband of six years, Hero Siwetshe.
Siwetshe told the court that his wife was cheating and he had proof of her WhatsApp chats with her boyfriend.
He told Magistrate Tuwe that he had no problem supporting his children but would not take care of his wife as they were on separation.
Sifundo denied the allegations and the court granted her spousal and child maintenance of $200.
Magistrate Tuwe told the couple to resolve their differences and not let text messages destroy their six years of marriage.
