Reports coming out of Portland Jamaica are that the annoying Sargassum seaweed has been washing up on its beaches since last July. A resident of Longbay reported that sometimes the stench lasts for a week or more, driving away customers and beach goers . Residents of Longbay are said to have resorted to partial clean ups which entails putting mixing the seaweed with some of sand, taking some away and allowing the water to carry the rest further out to sea.
