A woman walked into a fire station in Italy and asked staff there to free her from a chastity belt.
The stunned firefighters in the city of Padua broke the lock on the device and helped her remove it.
Chastity belts were popular during the Renaissance as a way of preventing sexual intercourse.
The woman entered the fire station and told the firefighters she had lost the key to a lock.
At first, staff thought she had locked herself out of her home, but she lifted her jumper to reveal a chastity belt around her waist.
Local newspaper Il Mattino di Padova reported that the woman told firefighters: “I’ve lost the keys to a lock and I can no longer open it.”
Firefighters managed to break the lock and free the woman. She was asked if she had been forced to wear the device but insisted it had been her choice to put it on.
She had lost the key somewhere in her home
