Classes suspended at two Portland schools, residents complain no water from Monday
Students attending both the Happy grove high and Manchioneal All age schools in east Portland were this morning sent home as classes were suspended due to no water supply from Monday.
Happy Grove high Principal Monique Grant Facey who spoke with Portlanders News said there has been no water from Monday. She also said that the school’s tanks are now empty affecting the operation of the canteen.
Meanwhile, Principal of Manchioneal All age Maureen Campbell said the school’s tanks went empty yesterday. Therefore, no water is available for the restrooms and for cooking.
Dale Henry a resident from Long road had similar sentiments. He said that from Monday several communities from Hectors River to Manchioneal have been without water supply.
According to Henry he went to the water catchment at Delan and saw flowing water.
Checks with the National Water Commission proved futile.
