The doctor, who was just over 60 years old, had been admitted to the University Hospital of the West Indies.
The acting chief medical officer, Dr Winston De La Haye, says she was in the high-risk group as she had other complications.
Health authorities have confirmed 69 swine flu cases from 187 tests since the start of the year.
In the meantime, De La Haye is urging people with flu-like symptoms especially those with other complications like high blood pressure, diabetes and heart problems to immediately seek medical attention.
“This is not the time to sit by and watch things,” he said.
De La Haye has expressed sympathies to the family of the doctor.
He said all six patients with swine flu to have died had other ailments.
