ZBC presenter in witchcraft storm
Three siblings, one of them Shelter Chiweshe nee Kwaramba a presenter with the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) reportedly hired a self-proclaimed prophet to implicate their step-mother as a witch.
The siblings who also include Stanley and Paul wanted their 43 year old step mother Magnacater to be divorced by their father.
“On 1 September 2016, in pursuance to their plan, the accused (Chamunorwa Resenza 25) in the company of his accomplice only known as Madzibaba Peter proceeded to Mbare, Mpedzanhamo where they bought an object resembling to a skull of a baboon and another item which looked like a horn filled with blood from Simon Sarewa” reads part of court papers seen by Bulawayo24.com
“The accused made further arrangements with the mentioned Chiweshe siblings such that they would visit the complainant’s place of residence on the pretext that they wanted to extend their condolences to the complainant’s husband following the death of Kudakwashe Chiweshe”
According to the court papers, Shelter drove the prophet and Peter to her step mother’s house and dropped them by the gate.
hey then introduced themselves as Kudakwashe’s friends.
They then asked to make a prayer saying the house needed to be cleansed.
“They entered the complainants bedroom where they produced the two objects which they had purchased from Simon Sawera and claimed that they were goblins belonging to the complainant”.
They claimed that she used to objects to bewitch Kudakwashe leading to his death adding that she had more objects which she was using to bewitch other Chiweshe family members.
It is understood that the young prophet pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 7 months imprisonment by magistrate Joshua Mawere and ordered the arrest of Shelter.
