The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) says it is currently conducting several operations surrounding a major fraud allegedly committed at a collectorate of Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ).
The operations, which are being done in conjunction with Revenue Protection Division (RPD) and the Financial Investigation Division (FID), have led to the arrest of several people in connection with the alleged scheme, which MOCA said has deprived TAJ millions of dollars.
Earlier today, OBSERVER ONLINE received reports that four people from the Cross Road tax office were arrested and the building cordoned off by police officers as MOCA conduct a raid of the premises.
Meanwhile, customers outside of the Cross Roads tax Office are getting impatient as the building is temporarily closed as police officers from MOCA carrying out their investigation.
Members of the public who turned up to conduct their businesses are currently gathered outside the building awaiting answers.
“Wha gwan? From you see MOCA you know say a something big,” one man said.
Another man complained that: “A just one ticket mi wah pay, a today it fi pay,”
